Production Wellness Consultation

Strategic guidance for healthier, more sustainable productions and creative organizations.

What Is Production Wellness Consultation?

Production wellness consultation helps productions, organizations, and creative leadership proactively support the people behind the work.

Rather than waiting until challenges arise, consultation focuses on identifying potential stressors early, strengthening communication, and developing practical strategies that help productions navigate demanding creative environments.

Every production is different. The pace, schedule, budget, leadership structure, and creative goals all influence what support looks like. Consultation provides a collaborative process for assessing those needs and developing realistic, production-specific solutions.

The Consultation Process

Initial Conversation

A conversation to understand your production, organization, goals, and current needs.

Needs Assessment

Together we'll identify opportunities where consultation, embedded support, or training may be beneficial.

Customized Recommendations

You'll receive recommendations tailored to your production—not a one-size-fits-all program.

Implementation

Support begins in the format that best fits your team.

Why Consultation Matters

Healthy productions don't happen by accident.

They are built through intentional planning, clear communication, thoughtful leadership, and systems that support the people doing the work.

Production wellness consultation isn't about eliminating challenges—creative work will always be demanding. It's about helping productions prepare for those demands in ways that strengthen both people and the production itself.

Inside a Production Wellness Consultation

After an initial consultation, we meet with production leadership to better understand the script, schedule, and unique demands of the project.

Every production is different, so every consultation is different.

The example below illustrates how a production preparing for emotionally demanding material might approach consultation. Depending on your project, we may review the script, identify high-pressure shoot days, discuss cast or crew accommodations, develop communication plans, and create practical strategies that fit your production.

The goal isn't to add more meetings—it's to help productions prepare proactively so people feel supported before challenges arise.

Review the production schedule

  • Identify emotionally demanding scenes or particularly high-pressure shoot days

  • Consider the pacing of demanding material throughout the schedule

  • Identify opportunities to build in realistic recovery time where possible

Discuss script-specific support

  • Review scenes involving grief, violence, trauma, loss, or other emotionally intense material

  • Identify where additional preparation or support may be beneficial

  • Coordinate with existing production departments when appropriate

Create a Production Support Plan

  • Determine whether brief cast or crew check-ins would be helpful before particularly demanding days

  • Discuss options for individual support or decompression opportunities

  • Identify quiet spaces or resources that could be available during production

Support cast and crew needs

  • Discuss known accommodations or accessibility considerations

  • Consider how different departments may experience demanding material differently

  • Plan communication strategies that help everyone know what support is available

Prepare leadership

  • Talk through communication approaches for department heads and producers

  • Identify who should be involved if unexpected challenges arise

  • Clarify how support integrates into the existing production workflow

Every consultation is collaborative. Some productions need only a single planning session, while others choose ongoing consultation throughout prep, production, or wrap.
